CSF
Founded in 1921, the California Scholarship Federation is the oldest scholastic, scholarship institution in the state of California. CSF emphasizes high standards of scholarship, and community service for California high school students. CSF encourages service to the school and the community while fostering pride in academic achievement.
CSF Membership is based on scholarship and is gained after qualifying grades are earned each semester. In order to become a member, the student must submit an application by the published deadline and pay membership dues on being admitted. A point system specified in the CSF State By-Laws establishes the membership requirements. To secure eligibility for CSF membership, a student must earn sufficient points from pre-approved course lists. The majority of the required membership points must come from college preparatory accepted course work.
Life Membership (Sealbearer) is achieved by qualifying four or more semesters in the last three years of high school (not including Freshman year), and earns the CSF Gold Seal on diplomas and transcripts. One of the semesters must be from grades earned during the senior year.

RETROACTIVE CSF ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP FOR THE CLASS OF 2024 (Freshman in 2020-2021)
The RBHS CSF Chapter will retroactively admit students who were ACTIVE Members of CJSF in their middle school as Associate Members for the Fall 2020 semester at RBHS.
Freshmen will be asked to indicate if they wish to be retroactively admitted as an Associate member when applying for membership in the SPRING semester. Freshmen who do not qualify for CSF membership based on Fall semester grades can still apply to be retroactively admitted as an Associate member if they were ACTIVE Members of CJSF and certified by the CJSF advisor.
Please note the retroactive CSF membership is offered only to current freshmen. Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors are not eligible to be retroactively admitted as associate members for the Fall semester of their freshmen year.
Bernardo Heights Middle School is a feeder school and students who were active members of CJSF are automatically CERTIFIED by the CJSF advisor. Any Freshman from BHMS who applied to become an Associate member but is not on the CERTIFIED list will be contacted by the RBHS CSF advisor to produce documentation. To check your certification status please email rbhscsf@gmail.com with your full name and student ID and indicate if you were a member of CJSF for the entire 8th grade.
Students from non-feeder schools or Transfer students who were Honor CJSF members at their middle school will need to provide documentation from their Middle School CERTIFYING they were ACTIVE CJSF members with good standing. Such students must complete the CSF Spring application on time and will be contacted and given additional time to submit the required documentation.
All CSF semester dues for retroactive associate membership is waived.
More detailed information on the CJSF to CSF transition can be found in the membership page. If you have specific questions please reach out to the CSF Officers at rbhscsf@gmail.com.
